Fishing Report for June 20, 2005
- An Emergency Order has been issued to allow bait in the
Lower Kenai River, from a marker 100 yards
downstream of the Moose River, effective 12:01 a.m., Saturday,
June 18, through 11:59 p.m., Thursday, June 30. All
other fishing regulations for the Kenai River remain in effect, including the slot limit.
- An Emergency Order has been issued to open the Russian
River Sanctuary Area (described on page 31 of the
Southcentral Alaska regulation booklet) as of June 16.
- A small section of the Kenai River near the smolt trap at the Kenai Keys remains closed
to sport fishing through June 25.
- All flowing waters in the Kenai River watershed are now OPEN to fishing for rainbow
trout and Dolly Varden char.
- The Russian River opened to fishing on June 11. The Russian River sanctuary remains
closed until July 15, or it may be opened by emergency order when the department can
project that the lower end of the escapement goal range of 14,000 sockeye salmon will be
exceeded.
- Dipnetting for hooligan closed for the rest of the year on June 15.
- The Kasilof River Personal Use set gillnet fishery opened June 15. Complete regulations
are on pages 16 through 18 of the Southcentral Alaska regulation booklet. Permits are
available from many grocery stores, tackle shops, ADF&G offices, and even some
gasoline stations.
